The Statfjord oil field is a large oil and gas field covering km 2 in the U.K.-Norwegian boundary of the North Sea at a water depth of m, discovered in by Mobil and since operated by Equinor.. It is a trans-median field crossing the Norwegian and UK North Sea Boundary with approximately 15% being in the UK Continental Shelf waters. Statfjord Nord was discovered by Norskald in and lies in block 33/9. This field and Statfjord Øst are tied back to the Statfjord C platform as satellite developments. Statfjord Nord lies about 22 kilometres north-east of Statfjord C, and has been developed with three subsea templates (D, E and F). This paper reviews reservoir performance and management of the Statfjord field after 8 years of production. The reasons behind the reservoir development strategies and field experiences are presented. The field comprises three reservoirs produced simultaneously with designated wells for each reservoir: the Upper and Lower Brent and the Statfjord. Statoil became Statfjord field’s new operator in January Peak production from the field was also achieved in the same month. The oilfield produced a record , barrels of oil on a single day. The SAR helicopter at Statfjord B crashed in October while on search for a missing seaweed trawler, killing five people. Feelings of safety on the Statfjord A platform In , a major study was conducted of the working environment, health and safety of workers on Mobil's Statfjord A platform". As part of this study, employees including operator staff, catering staff, drilling crew and flotel crew evaluated 20 potential sources of risk on a five-point scale. Hellesoy, O. H.
